What to Expect During a Lacrosse Season
Welcome to North Allegheny Youth Lacrosse (NAYLAX)!
Whether you’re new to the sport or a returning player, this guide will help you navigate the lacrosse season and get the most out of your experience.
Pre-Season Preparation
Registration
Registration opens on November 1st every year and includes important waivers. Registration fees cover field rental costs, coaching, and league dues.
- 6U (Age 5 and K) - $75
- 8U (Grades 1/2) - $175
- 10U (Grades 3/4) - $275
- 12U (Grades 5/6) - $375
- 14U (Grades 7/8) - $375
Equipment
NAYLAX follows the USA Lacrosse requirements for equipment. Please refer to https://www.usalacrosse.com/equipment for full details.
Clinics
Before the season starts, we host 2 introductory clinics (Fall and Winter) for new and returning players. Clinics are designed to teach basic skills and help players build confidence.
The Season Schedule
Practices
- Practices are held 2 days a week for 8U - 14U, typically lasting 1-2 hours.
- Focus areas include fundamental skills, team strategies, and game preparation.
Games
- Games are typically once a week, schedule fluctuates season to season.
- Home games are played at Linbrook Park.
- Away games will require travel within the Western PA Youth Lacrosse Association.
- Tournaments
- 10U, 12U and 14U may participate in tournaments, offering a fun and competitive experience for players.
Parent Involvement
We encourage all parents to get involved! Volunteer opportunities include:
- Team Parent: Coordinate schedules and communication.
- Scoreboard operator for home games: Help track scores during games and submit scores to WPYLA for 12U and 14U teams.
- Sideline Support: Provide water, snacks, and encouragement.
Mid-Season Activities
- Skill Development
Coaches work with players to refine techniques and improve their understanding of the game. - Fundraising
To keep costs manageable, we host fundraising events and seek sponsorships. Your participation directly supports the program.
Post-Season Highlights
- End-of-Season Celebration
Celebrate the hard work and achievements of our players with a organization wide picnic. - Awards and Recognition
Coaches honor players for their contributions, highlighting sportsmanship, skill, and improvement. - Off-Season Opportunities
Stay involved with clinics, summer leagues, and training sessions to keep skills sharp.

NA Girls Youth Lacrosse begins at 2nd Grade. If you have a daughter interested in Lacrosse younger than 2nd grade, she is welcome to register for NAYLAX!
